Department Store General Merchandise:  These General Merchandise Overstocks, Closeouts, and Returns come from a well-known, high-end Department Store Chain.  AML has a long-term partnership with this company.  As their largest buyer of distressed goods AML enjoys preferred status in product availability.  We make the best purchase decisions for our customers.  AML declines to buy some offers. Some of the declined offers can be purchased through other liquidators and brokers.  This merchandise includes categories such as Accessories, Hand Bags, Domestics, Housewares, Luggage, Tabletop & Gifts, Cosmetics, and others, consisting of brand name and store brand merchandise.  These Department Store General Merchandise loads include two general categories:  Overstocks, Closeouts, Shelf Pulls and Returns.  The average price for Overstocks, Closeouts, Shelf Pulls is 23%-29% of wholesale cost.  AML represents a waste factor of 5 – 10% on these Overstocks, Closeouts, Shelf Pulls, because of occasional errors and omissions in the processing facility.  It is common for damaged items to be marked to a penny and the customer will usually pay a percentage of a penny for the items.  An average load of this Department Store General Merchandise has $75,000 to $100,000 in wholesale cost.  That equates to $150,000.00 to $200,000.00 in retail per load.  Profits will vary for the resell of this merchandise.  Some of our customers sell the Overstocks / Closeouts / Shelf Pulls Merchandise at half of retail.  If everything on the load is sold at half off retail this would calculate to a profit of $75,000 to $100,000 per load.  Customers have reported resell at an average of 25% of original retail, which brings the profits to (25% of $150,000=) $37,500.00 or (25% of $200,000=) $50,000.00.  The Department Store Returns loads consist of the same great variety of merchandise, but because it is returns, the percentage of damage is higher, (15-25%).  Calculations are for illustration only and not to be used as a basis for making a purchase decision.
